Youth Documentary Production Workshop
The Youth Documentary Production Workshop (Youth Doc Workshop) welcomed its 14th cohort in 2024. This educational program aims to enhance youth media literacy through documentary production, discover outstanding youth content, and nurture future documentary makers. This year, the program shifted from the traditional teacher-student team structure to encourage self-directed teams, better aligning with the interests and creative intentions of future filmmakers. Twelve teams were selected in total: ten from Gyeonggi-do and two from other regions (Gumi and the USA). A mentoring group of professional documentary directors provided foundational training in documentary filmmaking. The program also hosted a "Preview and Discussion Camp," where all participants gathered to share ideas and provide feedback on each other's work, enhancing the overall quality of the Youth Doc Workshop projects.
During the 16th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, the Youth Documentary Production Workshop screening will showcase the works of all 12 teams. Each project offers a unique perspective on the participants' daily lives, concerns, and contemporary views.
