Corentin is a new student at the Cognac wrestling club. Reserved, sincere and persevering, the young man gives it all he has to reach his goal: to be a wrestler in the US or internationally. But does he have what it takes as a wrestler to succeed?
A young French man named Corentin is a new member of the wrestling club in Cognac, Bordeaux. Calm and introverted with a gentle facial expression, he is a tall man whose body is far from muscular. He can hardly keep up with the basic physical training and often misses a movement or two. The other members are only slightly better than Corentin. Why does he want to pursue professional wrestling when he clearly does not have much talent for it? He claims that his ultimate goal is to become a professional wrestler in the USA or some other country. One of the characteristics of professional wrestling is that unlike mixed martial arts, it follows a given script. There is a drama involving attacks and counterattacks, and added to it is the showmanship of wrestlers playing heroes and villains, all of which results in a sight for the audience to watch. For this reason, professional wrestling is often considered as a form of entertainment rather than sports. The film carefully captures on camera those who continue their seemingly pointless endeavors with an affectionate gaze. [LIM Saeeun]
