Sports and politics may seem heterogeneous. The principle of fair play is important in sports while the mindsets of compromise and negotiation behind the scenes come first in politics. Nevertheless, these two different fields have been closely intertwined with each other in history. Sports can be either a victim of political conflicts or a political breakthrough. For example, while the 1980 Moscow Olympics and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics were a microcosm of the Cold War, the Ping-pong diplomacy marked a thaw in Sino-American relations. The same logic can be applied to the Korean Peninsula. There have been continuous efforts in resolving the long-lasting tension and seeking peace regime to end war between North and South Korea. Some of the examples would be North Korean demonstration team joining in the World Taekwondo Federation held in Muju in 2017 and two Koreas forming a single team to compete at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. The film tells the full story about the joint performance at the 2017 World Taekwondo Federation. The sports world of taekwondo in Korea is currently divided into the World Taekwondo Federation and the International Taekwondo Federation, which also reflects the reality of the division; nevertheless, One Team never stops emphasizing the fact that sports divided by politics can be a tool to heal the wounds of the division and ensure the future-oriented history.
