As a result, 7,000 people have died extrajudicially at the hands of the police and vigilantes. The death toll is likely to increase so long as Duterte retains his firm stance. It is implied that the problem is not just limited to the Philippines. It’s a global concern based on his connection with the US government. Many of those killed on suspicion of drug possession were young people. A 16-year-old boy has lost his life. At first, the camera offers the same gaze as those gathered around the corpses on the street. Gradually, it delivers the sadness and anger of the family and takes us closer to their lives. Observing the scene after the incident, the camera is powerless. It can only put on display the sobbing family and the blood from the dead body. Yet, there is a reason why the camera should be there.
