Quite and mysterious, Xin Seha is an emerging indie musician in South Korea. While his band gradually gets attention from the public, Xin goes through an ordeal; his mother is sick. Xin, however, bravely looks at his pain and secretly expresses his feeling through his voice.
12 AND 24 explores the world of a musician named Xin Seha (the title is taken from a song that he sings). We witness Xin Seha¡¯s musical journey as he prepares to release his first album, performs in a band with O3ohn and Quandol, and composes songs for his next album. His musical activities are intersected with his daily life centered on his complex emotions towards his mother in the hospital. The somewhat ordinary story is made special through the film¡¯s unique visual style and editing rhythem, which seem to bring together Pedro Costa¡¯s mise-en-scéne and Robert Bresson¡¯s fragmented montage, and respond to the distinctive sensibilities of Xin Seha¡¯s music. The result is a cinematic embodiment of the subtle nuances of such sensibilities. The film never loses sight of the daily life of one musician and stories from his surroundings, and delicately handles them so as to allow contributions to the embodiment of the senses embraced by his music.
