Vaneda
In this documentary about documentary-making, the 27-year-old director begins to make her first documentary focusing on the angst of the youth in their twenties. She starts the journey of shooting that seems never short of obstacles. Her crew members are: Min-hee, an office worker of seven years; Min-sik, who works at a bar; and Seung-hee, an assistant writer for a broadcasting station whom the director met at a social protest. The lives of young people in their twenties and their insecurity are well portrayed in the process of documentary-making, rather than the finished documentary itself. The film also poses a number of questions: ¡°If our film is appreciated by ourselves alone, but not by others, then would we be able to continue doing this?¡± ¡°If our dreams finally come true, then would this feeling of angst go away?¡± Answers to these questions are not what really matters. The questions themselves are critical part of our youth. In this manner, the film quietly tells us that young days are not bitter days, but blossoming days. (Lee Seung-min)
