As a miraculous land where all living organisms coexist in harmony, the DMZ offers insights into solutions to the climate disasters and crises of the living organisms and the planet, symbolized by COVID-19. The DMZ demonstrates how the “boundary” lies at the root of the global crisis that divides “you” and “me,” leading to inequality, hatred, and discrimination. The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival crosses the boundary to examine global issues and explore solutions.

The trophy of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival was created by sculptor CHUNG Hyun, and it represents barbed wire, symbolizing the DMZ area. A strand of barbed wire winds upward around the two strands of barbed wire, pointing in different directions. The trophy is awarded to the winners of the competition sections.
