Chairman of Korean Film Council

Han Sang-jun

I extend my heartiest congratulations on the opening of the 17th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival.

Documentary is a genre that continuously reflects on humanity and society and sheds new light on the familiar realities. The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival has been spotlighting global issues through diverse documentaries over the last 17 years from the perspective of the DMZ, the world¡¯s only scene of division. Now, it has become a leading film festival representing Korea and Asia.

This year¡¯s festival slogan is ¡°A Day We Dream Of.¡± What kind of day do you dream of? I hope you encounter 140 different days and discover the possibilities of peace through the documentaries presented in the film festival.

I also would like to send my deepest gratitude to the film festival staff for their efforts in successfully organizing the festival as well as the audience for joining the festival. I also send my respect and gratitude to the filmmakers who continue their passion for creation despite the difficult circumstances.

Today, K-culture is loved more than ever before. To help documentaries and Korean films reach out to the world powerfully and help the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival carry on its mission, our Korean Film Council will continue to send support.

Once again, congratulations on the hosting of the 17th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival.

Thank you.
