Synopsis

In Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong-goon in 1993, Doomealee elementary school was closed. The Education Executive decided that the school had too few students to be sustainable. It was not a matter of education itself but of money that made the decision. In fact, as a result of government policy small schools were closing all over Korea. The villagers of Doomealee filed suit against the policy, and during the struggle all the villagers-parents and children alike-remained of one mind and drew wide sympathy from outside. It took three years before the case was decided.
