In 2019, a crowd gathered around the Notre Dame Cathedral fire in Paris. Alice Brygo uses her camera to film people’s reactions to the collapse of divinity. The live images slow down and get shaky to transform into immersive three-dimensional images or graphic animation. Throughout the transition from reality to the artificial studio’s edited image and original point, the camera does not capture the burning cathedral at all. Ardent Other is made by editing images and sounds based on the site videos. It also focuses on reaction rather than the event itself and demonstrates the experiential reproduction of human behavior toward unexpected disasters.
