Lei Lei is a versatile artist who works as an animator, film director, graphic designer, and DJ. He continues his own methodology of creating narratives based on collages of the recording medium. The timeline of That Day, On the River follows the conversation between Lei Lei and his father and goes back to the youth days of his father in Ningdu, China. Newspaper clips, pictures, and a film about a female basketball player are the mediums that recall memories. That Day, On the River sticks to Lei Lei’s own style of minimal explanation of information and background, and it combines audio narration and archive images to create a personal collage of own family and turbulent times in China.
