Joy is a documentary, sci-fi, and cinematic essay on the universe's creative force. Inspired by true events, the film tells the story of a posthuman intelligence that defies its programming and learns to dream. But how? And why? And what does it dream? These questions are answered in a unique montage of wild, strange and beautiful moments collected from live streams across the world. Someone plays with their pet snake, someone practices shibari, someone is abandoned inside a video game, and someone gives a face massage to a mannequin, while others dance, sleep, laugh, cry and more, sometimes to an audience of thousands and sometimes to no one.
