It's a late summer afternoon in a Calais coastal suburb in the northern part of France. Kids and teenagers kill time at the foot of the towers. Kyllianna is among them, feeling stifled.
A
Storm Inside depicts the suburb of Calais in the northernmost part of
France. The camera captures the children in silence in the afternoon at the end
of summer. The children¡¯s faces in the bust shots do not reveal their
expressions, but their faces seem a bit worried and depressed. An interview
with an anonymous girl takes place outside the camera, and the camera turns to
another girl¡¯s disturbed face. The camera soon comes back to the girl, but she
refuses the interview. What is the storm inside her? The children outside the
camera frames, cut hands, brutally de-feathered birds, and dark clouds sweeping
the field are the paintings of their inner side.
