Evelien, a witty disabled woman spastic from birth, yearns for intimate contact but mostly recognition for who she is. Sexual Healing follows her courageous and often humorous quest for intimacy, one that does not shirk taboos. In this disarming journey Evelien experiences sexuality for the first time in her life. A poignant, yet light-hearted universal story about the necessity of intimate contact for all of us human beings.
Sexual Healing is a film about the sexual experiences of a spastic woman, and it tells the audience that a sexual relationship is the experience of understanding oneself better and realizing the pleasure of interaction. As the experience gets deeper, it may result in more wounds or frustration. Still, if society and individuals care for the process of taking courage for exploration, the experience of treating each other¡¯s body would be the pleasure and training of body, mind, and spirit. The honest journey of Evelien makes the audience contemplate how society limits the opportunity for the intense experience granted to human life.
