Synopsis
The film reconstructs Noriko's life by selecting scenes featuring only the actress Setsuko Hara from Ozu Yasujiro's films.
Review
Noriko Setsuko 2 is an audio-visual film critic composed of 7 works by Yasujiro Ozu. Its footage includes 5 works from late Spring (1949) to Late Autumn (1960), The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice (1952), and Early Spring (1956) starring Setsuko Hara as Noriko. The left side of the split screen shows a moving train and the right side shows montages of Setsuko Hara inside, such as at home and work. The screen displays outside and inside respectively, the middle screen occasionally displays footage at different times. The outside gets darker once and the inside gets separated from the outside. This creates another cinematic rhythm about the world of contemporary people.
