Synopsis

Che! is a quirky youth documentary about twelve year old Che who has a vivid imagination and loves eerie and creepy stuff. His parents are divorced, but he doesn't really mind. It's actually quite convenient to get a double allowance. While Che is looking forward to Halloween, he finds out it can be rather a nuisance if you live far from old friends and have to arrange a meeting with your dad.

Review

Every day is a happy day for a 12-year-old boy, Che!

Che can create dreadful spectacles even in the trivial round of daily life with an original imagination, if he wants to do. The murderer brandishing a terrible weapon in blood, an unexpected convulsion in the shower, the poisoned ketchup that he secretly got the younger brother to eat, a total strange herring served in a restaurant. The directing way of the documentary is very interesting, that cleverly films the illusion of Che with an extraordinary taste.

The Halloween, when all kinds of monsters and ghosts come on, is it a perfect day for Che? He prepares to welcome the Halloween day, dividing his time between the houses of his parents who are divorced. His doubled pocket money, new friends and the places that he visits for the first time, his own free time. He says, "My parents live separated but there's no reason to cry!"

But Che, the master of terror, knows that what's so scary is not in a visible scene. He comes face to the real world so strong that a young boy cannot cope with it, beyond the border of comic illusions. His feeling squeezed by the real world encroaches on his funny daily life and continues to darken his happy days. What really scares the 12-year-old boy is not monsters nor ghosts. [Oh Mun-se]
