Synopsis

In 2015, a group of workers from Hydis Technologies Co. in Korea came to Taiwan to protest the plant closure decision of the parent company of Taiwan. These middle age workers from Korea met another group of young social movement activists in Taiwan. They speak different languages, but they can sing the same song ¡®Marching for you, comrade¡¯. The film story is all about how they cross borders, learn from each other and fight together.

Marching for You, Comrade (2016) Through the short documentary, we want to invite the audience to reflex the following questions together: Do the differences formulated by diverse histories, social realities and strategies for implementation really exist in Asia? Do they become barriers for cooperation or the basis to learn from each other? Can comradeship and friendship generated by joint demonstrations replace formal alliances? How national borders confine cross-border confrontations? Can passive responses counter the flow of capital?
