The last year of 20th century, Kosovo, previously Serbian region, achieved independence through the Albanian-centered Kosovo War which led tens of thousands of refugees to nowhere to return. Gypsy, the most minority group, was harshly discriminated and Tefik, the documentary’s protagonist, is an only son of gypsy family. While Albanians lived in Kosovo, they violently excluded Tefik family. Mother was ill in bed and father became silent. In front of the temporary shelter in Denmark where wounded family sat on, Tefik rides a bicycle. When Tefik falls from acrobatic movement on the bicycle, his father fixes the broken bicycle. Repeated attempts, repeated failures. While fixing Tefik’s bicycle, his father says “Tefik, when you fall, you get back up again.” till he gracefully succeeds his acrobatic movement. Tefik dreams of his own figure in the future as a police officer arrest bad people and of his father fixing bicycles in the shop located in Denmark, also mother healthy again. In a calm tone, the film shows a boy’s will to bravely move forward while portraying people get discriminated. People sometimes helplessly fall down. But what is important comes next after the fall.
