A life story of Pierre, who has suffered from cerebral palsy for 27years. His fate to live in physical dependence on another, his true friendship, his unforgettable experience of loss, and his love. His calm and true monologue about all of these.
The documentary start by saying a Tibet proverb, "For a brief moment of love, it¡¯s beauty that counts. For a love of a lifetime, it¡¯s goodness that counts"
A life story of Pierre, who has suffered from cerebral palsy for twenty seven years. His fate to live in physical dependence on another. People that Pierre looks at, people looking at Pierre, people that Pierre meets and enters into a relation with, people who meet Pierre and are on intimate terms with him. The camera stares calmly at their faces and their eyes. Long time ago, Buddha said, 'Be a light to yourself'. People could not live alone. We help and share each other in the love. And the good that we all have leads us to true beauty. There a certain thing shines brightly. The appearance is important for temporary love in a life. But the inner side is more important for the whole life' love. And Pierre meets a person who doesn't regard him as a nuisance to help, a lifelong friend, and his love.
Sangha, the original title of the film, is a Sanskrit and means the Buddhist Priesthood, which calls a monk collective who live by the Buddha¡¯s words. We are wondering why the film entitled the title, but we could know the answer near the ending of the film. Does anyone achieve his proper ¡®Sangha¡¯ in his life? In that sense, the director could have titled the short and beautiful film ¡®Sangha¡¯ and the film will be screened as Effulgent in Korean. [Hong Jae-hui]
