This film is about the process of searching for vanished Sunil TRIPATHI. At first, it shows relatives¡¯ precious memories about the vanished one with photos of Sunil in his childhood, family members¡¯ memories about him, his favorite objects and animated searching process by his families and relatives. Until this point, the film seems to demonstrate who is Sunil and to record his relatives¡¯ moves during the search, but repetitive voice recorded on smartphone makes audiences assume that Sunil¡¯s missing is not just a simple missing of one person. While using the media to search for Sunil, family members suddenly become a target of witch-hunting by the press when someone finds resemblance between Sunil and a suspect in the bombing of the marathon and spots him as a bomber on SNS. When we face this instant moment when anonymous inference with uncertainty turns into certain fact on facebook or twitter regardless of veracity, we get to meditate upon irrationality of this world one more time. Through this family¡¯s issue, the film portrays the problem of faceless social media where perpetrators are invisible and only victims are left. Neal BROFFMAN, the director who is delicate and sharp in portraying American society and, by extension, the modern world, layers up family love, status of immigrants in the US, media¡¯s role and the actual state, faceless hateful comments on social media and college student¡¯s suicide issue in this one powerful film.
