Synopsis

Jostling. A frightening mass, members of the new Islamic movement Maulid in Indonesia, that targets young people and is led by descendants of the Arab-Hadrami, older emigrants from what is now Yemen. The film is part of Sufi Bikers and Arab Saints, a multi-sensory project.

  • Aryo DANUSIRI

    A video artist and anthropologist born in Jakarta. His works have been exploring the circulations of new keywords, violence and memory in reconfiguring political and social landscape of post-authoritarian Indonesian 1998. Those works have premiered at various festivals, including Rotterdam, Amnesty Amsterdam, Mead Festival and Yamagata New Asia Current.
