Romeo and Juliet which is one of the four great tragedies by Shakespeare and the one like the headwater of most films and TV series. The city, Verona in Italy designates a building as the place where Juliet and the Capulet family used to live in, and made it into a sightseeing site along with her statue. The wall of this place is filled with messages wishing for love from the tourists of various gender, nationality and race. The statue of Juliet in the corner of the yard suffers from the tourists touching her right breast all day. A bird is almost trampled to death by surged tourists, but preserves its life and flies to another building. Like other works of Herz FRANK, the film starts with the subtitle “Juliet without Romeo”. Juliet, the symbol of purity as well as the symbol of noble love is a victim standing alone and harassed by random tourists. The film makes unique cinematic rhythm through the arrangement in order of ‘fact to image to fact to image’. (Jinna LEE)
