Twenty farmers hit fame. No Business like Show Business tells how a quite ordinary yodelling club from the heart of the Swiss Alps stormed the hit parade overnight, taking over the stages of huge shows and how it attempted to deal with its unexpected success. For over twenty years the citizens of Wiesenberg had cultivated the same rituals. The singing mountaineers met once a week in the local church to rehearse together and they yodelled for weddings, funerals and birthdays. But in the meantime their world has been turned upside down: their CDs have stormed the charts and they are bombarded with concert offers. It¡¯s the allure and the temptation of show business and for ¡®The Wiesenberger¡¯ it soon became true: Those whom the gods challenge are punished by success: The entire uproar concerning the choir became a tough examination for the yodellers. Should they stay or should they go now? After all they are even scheduled by the Swiss Government to sing in the Swiss Pavilion of the World¡¯s Fair in Shanghai. No Business like Show Business is a moving tale about twenty lucky guys whom God blessed with success while simultaneously punishing them by forcing them to make their way through the thorns and temptations of show business.
