Four years ago, Penny Woolcock researched a film with the two main gangs in Birmingham – The Burgers (B21) and The Johnsons (B6), not thinking it would be her next documentary. These two gangs have been killing and wounding each other for over fifteen years. The Burgers and the Johnsons are two of Britain’s oldest gangs and their feud is one of the worst in the country. In January 2010, two of their leaders – rivals - decided it was time to stop the killing – but can they overcome the distrust built up over decades? Peace is established, but it’s a fraught peace. A murder occurs and everything starts to break down. Then the summer riots happen. Young people all over the UK voice their discontent. This film will be a glimpse into why, and what the solutions might be.
