Pertti Kurikkan Nimipäivät(Pertti Kurikka¡¯s Name Day) is a Finland¡¯s most kick-ass punk rock band and the band members, Pertti, Kari, Toni and Sami, are mentally handicapped but they play their music with a lot of attitude and pride. The Punk Syndrome follows these professional musicians on their journey from obscurity to popularity, while the journey, they laugh, cry, fight, fall in love and experience strong emotions, and they spend long days together in the recording studio and on tour. This film is also about the essence of punk and a story of handicapped people rebelling against the mainstream. Their songs are about the problems in society as well as about trivial things that they face in their everyday life. The director wants this film to provoke new thoughts, questions and moods and not merely tells a story, and show audience that these people shouldn¡¯t be thought of as defective or inadequate, but rather as individual and complete human beings. With this film, audience is allowed to stare and wonder why they act the way they do and will fall in love with them as watching how the most kick-ass punk band in Finland conquers the world.

Jukka Kärkkainen has been making documentary films since 2003. Aside from filmmaking Jukka has a background as a construction worker. He is the co-founder of Mouka Filmi production company.
