Osundosun Edu-Care House is located in Cheongcheon-dong, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, where so many houses are crammed together. During the Korean financial crisis, and after visiting a school cafeteria, Teacher “Magnolia” and Teacher “Sunflower” opened a Edu-care house to provide better food to children and have been taking care of children for more than a decade. They have plenty of things to do other than providing good food and teaching children. Reconciling children who fought, punishing a child who stole a friend’s money, and checking whether a kid who moved far away is doing okay — these teachers are so busy looking after children. The beauty of this film is that it shows the everyday nature of children, space and characters in a simple and honest manner. The power of their everyday life is the teachers’ wish for the children to grow up with sound body and mind. Some children have created an independent youth club called “Kkumteo (Dream-site)” and become new players in the local society and community. The youngsters at Kkumteo made their past experiences in the neighborhood into a film to share with local residents. This is the fruit of the Osundosun Edu-Care House and another seed sowed in the local community. (PARK Hye- Mi)
