Urawa Commercial High School is a special school for teenagers who have stopped pursuing an education. This film follows the four-year journey of one particular class from their entrance ceremony in 2004 to graduation in 2006. At first, the camera gazes at the students from a third person’s point-of-view. From Sachiko who has no intention of attending class to the overly lively Naomi, Mari who constantly misses class to their class teacher, Hirano, who chooses to smile instead of intervening, there is something definitely wrong with everyone to those who are looking at them from the outside. However, the camera captures the subtle expressions and movements of the students as it slowly slides into their world. Like a friend right by their side, the camera becomes a part of the students’ lives, gazing at them now with warm compassion. And perhaps this is why at one point, you will find yourself standing right next to Sachiko who had been scarred by her unfortunate family background, the timid Naomi who had been diguising her fear of being forced out of the closet with cheerfulness, and Mari who was a victim of household violence. In the end, you will understand how Urawa gave each student a reason to live. (LEE Seung-min)
