Have you ever taken a good look at your feet, the body part that bear all the tiredness and stress we feel, sitting farthest from our eyes? The act of washing another¡¯s feet is more than just a physical action, like that of Jesus, who washed his disciple¡¯s feet. It is a metaphor for love and service, which wash away our inner blemishes. Every Wednesday, residents of a shelter on the streets of Yellowknife, in Canada¡¯s Northwest Territories, get together to have their feet washed. The shelter becomes a place where they talk and share with the volunteers washing their feet. The camera does not reveal the people¡¯s faces, but we can easily picture how they must look in our minds. The black & white close-up of hands and feet, and the emotional piano melodies, will be enough to make all your stress fade away. (KIM Jin-sook)
