Brothels which are generally considered as completely sexualized spaces in fact have their own way of life unknown to the general public. They are places of livelihood and isolated communities where residents care for and look after each other. Recently, the residents of these places have taken to the streets, crying out for their ¡®right to live¡¯ which is now being threatened by shutdown and redevelopment.

In 2004, he made his first directorial debut with the film, Me and Doll Playing, followed by several documentaries and experimental video works. He completed his feature length film, Faceless things (2005) in 2005, A Cheonggyecheon Dog (2007). His third feature film, Stateless Things, was invited to Venice Film Festival. And Futureless Things released in theaters on June, 2014. His films have shown in various prestigious national and international film festivals and won several prizes and accolades. To date, a retrospective of his films has been screened in South Korea, Taiwan, France, Swizerlands.
