Synopsis
Like archeologists from another century, filmmakers Eric Black and Frauke Sandig search for traces of the Berlin Wall ten years after its fall. Along the way, they ask those who lived up against it, what were their experiences, frustrations, fears, dreams - and what are their concerns now? The Berlin they depict is a city reshaping itself, with over 50,000 new buildings either completed or in construction and citizens participating in a collective act of “forgetting.”

Erick Black
Eric Black (director, producer, director of photography) was born in Ohio. He attended schools in Columbus, Ohio and Florence, Italy and HighSchool in West Berlin. Some of his first images were in black and white of East Berlin, where he bought his first camera, a Pentacon. He graduated with a triple-major in Photography, Anthropologyand Political Economy at the University of California and attended the Cinema Department at San Francisco State University. He has shot many documentaries since and worked with the American Director Jon Jostin Rome. After the Fall (1999)

Frauke Sandig
Frauke Sandig was born in West Germany. After studying Drama and German Literature in Erlangen, she has worked as a TV-producer and documentary director of more than 30 documentaries including (2008), which was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Award 2008 in Germany. Her feature length documentary, (1996) told the story of twins, separated at birth, who grew up in completely different worlds: one raised as a Jew, the other as a Nazi. The film was screened on numerous international film festivals, shown on public television worldwide and awarded a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
