Winfried Junge, Barbara Junge
is part of the longest-running documentary chronicle in film history. The directors have accompanied these children through the vicissitudes of life from their first day of school in 1961 until 2005. One of these children is Winfried, whose life is a story of success. He became commander of the brigade group at the pulp mill Gröditz (Saxony) and then succeeded in graduating as an engineer in mechanized tool design.
Winfried Junge
Winfried Junge was born in 1935 in Berlin. Heattended German studie sat the pedagogical faculty of the Humboldt University Berlinbutin 1954, he switched to the German Academy for Filmand Televisionin Potsdam Babelsberg and graduated in dramaturgy in 1958. He began working as assistant director and assistant dramaturge, principally for films by KarlGass. As from 1961 he worked at the DEFA Studios for Documentary Films and started the Golzow chronicle with , . Overall, he made over 50 documentaries for cinema and TV, 19 about the children of Golzow. Barbara Junge
Barbara Junge was born on November 4th 1943 in Neunhofen (Thuringia). She studied Translation/Interpretation for English and Russian at the Karl-Marx-University. In 1969 she started to work at the DEFA Studios for Documentary Films where she was initially responsible for the foreign language versions of DEFA documentaries. As from 1978 she handled the archive of the Golzow project, in 1983 she took over the montage of all her husband¡¯s films, since 1992 she has been co-director.
