In Finland, the world¡¯s first attempt to permanently store nuclear waste is being hewn out of solid bedrock. The waste will remain hazardous for 100,000 years, and once the storage chamber is full, it will be sealed off for all eternity. But how do we prevent our descendants from thinking they have found the Pyramids of this era, or hidden treasure? How do we warn them of the deadly waste we left behind? If they understand us, will they respect our instructions?
