Can a video camera capture the aura of a place that has experienced trauma? The director made a list of places where accidents happened and filmed those places. But the camera did not ¡°capture¡± anything. It could be due to the limitations of physics, but the canal remained a canal, the house, a house.... Maybe the aura she sought doesn¡¯t exist or maybe we don¡¯t have the requisite gift to see the aura. Maybe you can see better than us.

Tan Pin Pin is one of Singapore¡¯s best known filmmakers and holds an MFA from Northwestern University, USA. Her works have won numerous awards and nominations. Her film Moving House (2001) was the first documentary conceived and produced by a Singaporean that was shown on Discovery Channel in Asia. Meanwhile, Singapore Gaga (2005) is the first Singapore documentary to have a theatrical release screening to sell out audiences. Her second feature documentary Invisible City (2007) screened at Berlin Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival and won Taiwan International Documentary Festival. Her latest work The Impossibility of Knowing, funded by DMZ Docs Project 2009, was invited to Vision dy Réel and Oberhausen International Short Film Festival.
