Karni ARIELI, Saul FREED
A natural history fantasy film, following the dramatic life cycle of the wild salmon in human form. Narrated by Marianne Faithfull. A Bfi short film by karni and Saul
This animation captures the life of a salmon, which must overcome challenging ecosystems and endure the environmental destruction caused by humans. While it embodies the awe of life's perseverance following the laws of nature, it also weighs heavy with the destructive ecological management wrought by human intervention. Such contrasting cinematic experience serves as a powerful awakening to a modern society that often lacks coexistence. Furthermore, viewing the life of a salmon through the lens of a female diver evokes the innate caregiving instinct shared by all living beings, highlighting how contemporary society pushes certain beings and ways of life to their limits and exploits them to witness.
