Synopsis

Tongyeong-si, located in Gyeongsangnam-do, lies on the southern coast of the Korean peninsula. Often referred to as the "land of the sea," this region boasts a constellation of 570 islands. While the beauty of the sea is visible from afar, its true state is far from idyllic. The harsh reality of the sea contrasts with its picturesque facade. How can we intervene to save the sea from its current trajectory of turning into a sea of plastic porridge?

Review

The blue southern sea of the Korean Peninsula is polluted by continuous flows of waste. The fishing nets have been dumped and discarded in the sea for generations without adequate awareness or public support, damaging the ecosystem of the blue sea. To prevent sea pollution, local residents, civil organizations, and volunteers protect the island as a cleaner. The story of how small contributions change a garbage patch feels as refreshing as a cool sea breeze. Seeing fishing nets dumped in the sea feels much more refreshing than pulling up old hair clogs from a drain. It would feel great to volunteer as a cleaner and protect the blue sea.
