Synopsis

Christian has one year left to live, one year to get to know his newborn son Philip, and on year to make sure Philip will have a chance to get to know him. Heritage is a film about the father and son relationship, what is important to bring on to your son, what is important to inherit from you father.

Review

There is a person whose life remains only a year which is such a short time to prepare anything. Christian decides to spend his whole year to his son. Philip, who just came to this world, may not understand his father¡¯s absence when he grows up. Christian doesn¡¯t know what kind of life is left for Philip since he was given short time to live too early. Carefully, sometimes casually, the father sets signposts on his son¡¯s road of future. It is important to share one¡¯s emotion with other people. A date with a girl must be thoroughly prepared. If grandmother is upset, he must agree with her and just wait for the time to pass∙∙∙. Death is a severance of communication. It is a rupture of people connected with identical time. Christian repeatedly delivers advices on communication. He believes that if his wife misses him in the future, she can feel better through conversations. This is how Christian talks with his son beyond his own death. 10-hour-long recorded advices of Christian will be melted into Philip¡¯s time. His trace will go along with the lives of people alive and this is the father¡¯s legacy. [Oh Mun-se]
