I AM DOCU
The film is a kind of a happening, an improvisation on the events outlined in the script. The spontaneous progress of the events is registered by a documentary camera. Real people - residents of a town Chełmsko Śląskie - and actors introduced to the town by the director, play in the film next to each other. For a month, they are all involved in organising the summer fest. Each of them is given a task, which will be later presented at the final fest. Actress Hania directs a play with the residents as actors. Darek, a handyman, is to build the scene with the help of local carpenters. Thierry has to teach the local ladies how to cook Italian food, etc. All is supervised by the mayor. The events focus on the characters within the confined area of the town, and what binds all the episodes together is the main square, where the characters meet. Each of the guests brings to the film their personality, sense of humour and the way of communicating with other residents. By observing the preparations for the fest, the director creates an image of a place - a town, where living is easy. Where people know each other and tolerate each other’s faults, where they meet to talk. For one summer month, Chełmsko became a location set for a film about a perfect town.
