The 11th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival created a new forum for documentary criticism, "DMZ-POV" this year. DMZ-POV, inspired by the film term "Point of View shot," means the gaze or perspective of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival. DMZ-POV is planning to review and criticize the currents and trends of Korean and international documentary during the year.
It is an attempt to approach the documentary genre in a popular and professional way. First, we will guide the audience in accessing the documentary on a more popular level with critics who come in close contact with them. In the second place, we will try to establish a new perspective on Asian and Korean documentary films beyond the existing Western-oriented discourse. During the four days of the festival, DMZ-POV will intensively hold 15 lectures and talks. This year, as its starting point, it takes a different approach of the documentary's reaching out to the audience friendly, by emphasizing the novelty and fun of the documentary.
