KIM has contributed articles on films to a weekly film magazine, Cine21 from 1995. She graduated from Department of Western History at Seoul National University and MA Film Studies at University of East Anglia, UK. She published essays: Film, I am sorry (2007), I stopped films (2008), I saw you who were looking at me (2017) and Painting and Shadow (2011), and interviews: Tell her your story (2008) and Indulged in Truth (2010). She has a podcast KIM Hyery's Film Club since 2016.
Vimukthi JAYASUNDARA is the director of THE FORSAKEN LAND (2005), winner of the Golden Camera at Cannes Film Festival; BETWEEN TWO WORLDS (2009), in competition at Venice International Film Festival; MUSHROOMS (2011), shown at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. He is an educator, as directing mentor at Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Film Academy 2016, and also head of Colombo Film & Television Academy in Sri Lanka.
Li Cheuk-to is a founding member of the Hong Kong Film Critics Society and was President from 1995 to 1999. He was Editor-in-Chief of Film Biweekly and has also written for major film journals such as Sight and Sound, Film Comment and Cinemaya. He is also former Artistic Director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival and the author of Notes on Hong Kong Cinema of the Eighties and Gallery of Vivid Images. He is currently the curator of M+, the museum of visual culture in Hong Kong.
YUN studied art, photography, and film at the Fine Arts School in Nancy, National Decorative Arts School in Paris, and Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, France. In 2011, he directed Promise, a short documentary and won Grand Prize in Asiana ISFF. A France-Korea co-production, Mrs. B was awarded Best Documentary in Moscow IFF and Zurich Film Festival and invited to numerous film festivals. His first feature film Beautiful Days was selected as the opening film of Busan IFF (2018).
Chalida UABUMRUNGJIT graduated in film from Thammasat University and film archiving from University of East Anglia, UK. She is programmers for Salaya Documentary Film Festival and Silent Film Festival in Thailand. Since 2013, she is one of the Executive Committee of FIAF(International Federation of Film Archives). She is the advocate for film preservation in the region. Currently she serves as the Director of the Film Archive, Thailand.
Anke LEWEKE studied law in Bonn and Berlin. Since 1992 active as a freelance film critic for print, radio and television. She was a member of the selection committee of the Berlinale (Competition and Forum from 2001 to 2018) and the delegate for Iranian cinema. As a consultant she works for festivals like Hong Kong, Shanghai and Marrakech.
A journalist who worked for newspapers like Hankook Ilbo Seoul Economic Daily and Hankyoreh Newspaper. Served as one of the committee members of the Korean Film council in 1999. Inaugurated as the third chairperson of the Korean Film Council in 2005 and served until March of 2008. As the director of Indie Space, a theater exclusively for independent films, she supported the publicity of movie culture and works to vitalize independent films.
JUNG made her debut feature Take Care of My Cat, which was theatrically released in the US, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, etc. and received numerous awards including Best New Director at the 2002 Koran Film Awards and Special Mention at the IFF Rotterdam. Her second feature The Aggressives (2005) was invited to the Generation section of the Berlinale. She has directed Talking Architect (2011), City: Hall (2012), Ecology in Concrete (2017), and Butterfly Sleep (2017).
Joost Daamen (1979) is a senior programmer at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). He holds a MA in Film Studies of the University of Amsterdam. He works for IDFA’s program department since 2005 and selects films for Feature Length Competition and Paradocs, the experimental film section of the festival. Over the years he also (co)-curated special programs like Based on the Same Story, Framing Reality, Sounds Real and Camera in Focus.
JO Seyoung got involved in documentary as an assistant director for Words kept in a Stone in 2001, and she has made Made in Korean, Shocking Fmaily, Let's Dance, etc. She studied film directing at Chung-Ang University graduate school of Advanced Imaging Scinece. She won the White Goose Award for international competition at the 5th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival with Let's Dance.
JO is a documentary producer. She studied Socialogy and Education at Yonsei University. She first joined as a production manager for Korea-Belgium co-production documentary Reach for the SKY(2015). She produced documentaries including Bamseom Pirates Seoul Inferno, The Whispering Trees, and A War of Memories. She is interested in war, ideology, trauma, and women. Currently, she produces 206, a documentary on civilian massacres during the Korean War.
Jewel MARANAN is a documentary filmmaker and producer. Jewel is also the founder and manager of Cinema Is Incomplete, a film production and distribution center. She holds a master’s degree in documentary directing from DocNomads and also now teaches as a senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines Film Institute. Her documentary works are crafted in this pursuit - Tondo, Beloved (2012) and In the Claws of a Century Wanting (2017) - which had both been awarded in several international film festivals and art events.
Mo Eun-young studied film and animation theory at Chung-Ang University graduate school of Advanced Imaging Scinece and has also written film columns for Kino, Film2.0, Cine21. She is currently a programmer at Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival and Indi-AniFest. She has produced a number of complex performances that reinterpreted classic films with various media of contemporary music and musicals, such as a live-narration performance of Crossroads of Youth.
LEE is a documentarist and media activist. Since he joined the Seoul Visual Collective in 1998, he learned about documentary production and started making works. He has joined projects on social issues and various activites on independent films. After working for Gangneung Media Center for three years since 2010, he formed a cooperative for media and independent film. Currently, he is devoted to building infrastructures for independent filmmaking and producers.
LEE Young founded the Women's Film Group “WOM” in 2001 and has experimented on the feminist narratives and representation of images that visualize the voices of non-visualized subjects, with Turtle sisters(2002),?Lesbian Censorship In School 1(2005),?Out(2007), Troublers(2015). She won the special jury award for Troublers at the DMZ Film Festival, the Women Filmmakers of the Year Award for documentary in 2016 and the Independent Film of the Year Award in 2017.
Jeong I-deun, who loved films and did anything related to cinema after high school, met the documentary at the DMZ Documentary Production Workshop. The workshop and the films he experienced at his first film festival, DMZ Documentary Film Festival, made him love more cinema, and documentary. Currently studying in film department and making small films, he believes that every film has its own strength and the affection and suffering of the creator creates the value of his work.
Han Bum Seung
HAN Bum-seung studied at Hankyoreh video workshop, made films as a member of the programming team of Seoul International Labor Film Festival, and was a programmer at Buan Film Festival. His documentary films, including Feb. 4, The Day the inhabitants of Buan Become Proprietary and The Yellow Camera 1,2, were screened at a variety of human rights and labor-related film festivals. He is currently the director of Bucheon Media Center.
