Synopsis

Have you ever taken a good look at your feet, the body part that bear all the tiredness and stress we feel, sitting farthest from our eyes? The act of washing another’s feet is more than just a physical action, like that of Jesus, who washed his disciple’s feet. It is a metaphor for love and service, which wash away our inner blemishes. Every Wednesday, residents of a shelter on the streets of Yellowknife, in Canada’s Northwest Territories, get together to have their feet washed. The shelter becomes a place where they talk and share with the volunteers washing their feet. The camera does not reveal the people’s faces, but we can easily picture how they must look in our minds. The black & white close-up of hands and feet, and the emotional piano melodies, will be enough to make all your stress fade away. (KIM Jin-sook)
