Synopsis

The rules of travelling are easy: no electricity, restrict water usage to just 40L per day and keep trash discardment to a minimum. This Earth-friendly, low carbon trip which seemed ambitious at first turned out to be quite a challenge. Unconsciously turned on water faucets, screams caused by people habitually using the toilet (it is reported that the maximum use of water for a toilet bowl is 15L), cooking a meal and washing the dishes, even buying a bag of bean sprouts becomes a major hassle. It only takes half a day to realize how much destruction permeates our lives behind the shield of civilization’s progress. This trip was a search for an answer to the question, ‘What can we do for the environment?’ Accordingly, the detailed documentation of this special journey becomes a raw testimony to the reality it was placed in. Without electricity, the camera can only record darkness and the shaky images of the barefooted cameraman rushing out to capture rain doesn’t seem like a flaw anymore. This 10-day-9-night-penance as the film bares it all, presents a real experience that will not be easily forgotten. The participants as well as the audience will return to their regular lives filled with tissue and plastic bags, but if these ‘enjoyable inconveniences’ can be reminded once in a while, then that will be the meaningful accomplishment of this film.
