It also actively engages in co-production and financing for director-driven Korean independent projects. Since 2006, JINJIN Pictures has been released around 200 titles including JISEUL by Jeju island native O-Muel, I, Daniel Blake by Ken Loach and Faces, Places by Agnes Varda.

Nilotpal MAJUMDAR | Director of DocedgeKolkata

Founder·President of Documentary Resource Initiative that organises Docedge Kolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary. Postgraduate from Film&Television Institute of India, Pune with specialization in Editing. Has been working as Writer, Director, Editor and Cinematographer. Attended international festivals and workshops as jury, tutor and mentor. He rigorously mentors young filmmakers in India. Served as Professor and Dean of Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata till January 2016, a premier film institute in India for postgraduate studies. Presently he is the Director, Manipur State Film & Television Institute, Imphal.

Jisu Klaire YOO | Yongin University | Asst. Professor

Jisu Yoo (a.k.a Seung Hyun Yoo) is a documentarian and film editor. She has directed independent documentaries broadcasted and exhibited internationally, including Daughters of the Cloth which was distributed in the U.S. by Center for Asian American Media. Critically acclaimed documentary, Los Angeles Plays Itself (dir. Thom Andersen), which is one of the various projects that she has worked as the editor, won the Best Documentary Feature of Vancouver International Film Festival 2003. Currently, she is a professor at Yongin University after serving for eleven years as part of Digital Editing & Post Lab at School of Film/Video, California Institute of the Arts.


Seungjun YI | Bluebird Pictures | Director

Born in 1971. He is a filmmaker and has made over a dozen of documentaries for both TV and cinema since 1999. Among his films, ‘PLANET OF SNAIL’ (2011) has won multiple international awards including the IDFA’s best feature length documentary and Silverdocs’ Sterling award for Best world feature documentary. He directed <CHILDREN OF GOD>(feature/2008) <WIND ON THE MOON>(feature/2014) <May I Talk to You?>(short/2015), etc. At Busan International Film Festival 2014, he was one of the jury members for WIDE ANGLE documentary section. Recently he directed Pyeongchang Winter Games Official Film <CROSSING BEYOND>(2018) and has been making his 6th feature documentary film, <Shadow Flowers> since 2015 August, dealing with a North Korean defector who wants to go back to her family living in Pyongyang.


Hyuksang LEE | pinks, Diaspora Film Festival | Director, Programmer

LEE Hyuksang, a director of the media activism group pinks, has produced various social documentaries since 2003. His debut feature Miracle on Jongno Street won the BIFF Mecenat Award at Busan Int’l Film Festival and latest The Remnants(2016) won the Best Korean Documentary Award and Audience Award at DMZDocs. He’s preparing his first fiction film His Son, Our Sun and working as a programmer for Diaspora Film Festival in Incheon.


Paul PAUWELS | EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY NETWORK | Director

Before becoming the EDN Director Paul Pauwels was Managing Director for the Belgium production company Congoo bvba. Paul has a long track record of working with international documentary co-productions from both a commissioning and production point of view. He has been the managing director of the media academy ETMA, commissioning editor for the Belgium public service broadcaster VRT and has almost 30 years of experience with producing documentaries for the national and international market.

In addition to these positions Paul Pauwels has been a tutor, moderator and expert at many European workshops and seminars, member of Eurovision Documentary Workgroup and one of the first Chairmen of EDN.


Sunhee HAN | Busan Asian Film School | Professor and Dean

After working as the producer of acclaimed documentary films Talking Architect(2011) and MANSHIN: Ten Thousand Spirits(2013), she founded Plain Pictures and produced The Basement Satellite(2013) and MBC Special <The Master Tailor>(2015). She also directed and produced Old Days(2016) which was invited to Jeonju International Film Festival and Udine Far East Film Festival. She currently teaches at International Film Business Academy of Busan Asian Film School.


Hei-rim HWANG | Metaplay /Seoul International Food Film Festival | Producer/ Programmer

HWANG Hei-rim is a producer at the film production/distribution company Metaplay and a programmer at the Seoul International Food Film Festival. She was a staff writer at the weekly film magazine Cine 21 for six years from 1997, and has been writing for various publications since. From 2006, she has been working as a programmer for several film festivals, including Green Film Festival in Seoul (2006-2011). As a producer, she worked on documentaries such as Sanda (2013) and The Truth Shall Not Sink with Sewol (2014).
