9TH DMZ Docs Fund Announcement

9TH DMZ Docs Fund Announcement

DMZ DOCS Fund , this year, experienced a significant development in the emerging documentary practices in Asian Region. There is a definitive change the region has been going through. The state of politics in many countries is passing through a serious threat to democracy impacting adversely the spirit of free speech, human rights and values of inclusiveness. Jury finds that majority of films submitted for fund-support represents the voices that defy and question the forces posing threats. It is good to observe that young filmmakers of the region are engaged with a sense of enquiry into the past to understand the dilemma of the present time. There is a great degree of concern from storytellers for people and humanity. With a renewed energy and investigation young filmmakers are raising issues of importance bridging the lost sensibilities between past and present. These new voices will surely bring in truth and objectivity trough creatively treated social narratives. This is surely a significant change in storytelling of concern and compassion. Jury feels inspired to find so many projects intending to deal with their unique social spaces with such concern.
